A control judge linked Alexis Medina García, alias “El Brilloso”, to the trial for his alleged participation in the murder of the former mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo. The determination was made in a private hearing, where he was also imposed informal preventive detention.

The defendant faces charges of qualified homicide and qualified injuries. According to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Michoacán, Alexis Jesús “N” was part of the messaging group from which the attack against Manzo was orchestrated.

A control judge linked Alexis Jesús “N”, known as “El Brilloso”, to the trial after considering that there was sufficient evidence about his participation in the murder of the former mayor of Uruapan.

He imposed informal preventive detention as a precautionary measure and established a period of two months for the complementary investigation, a stage in which the Michoacán Prosecutor’s Office will continue to gather elements to support the accusation.

While this period lasts, the accused will remain confined in the High Security Penitentiary Center for High Impact Crime, based in Charo, Michoacán. The judicial resolution was issued in a private hearing, as reported.

The FGE of Michoacán links “El Brilloso” with the Threema application messaging group from where, according to the investigation, the attack against the former mayor of Uruapan was planned. The authorities maintain that, after the capture of Jorge Armando “N”, alias “El Licensed”, Alexis Jesús “N” would have assumed control of that cell.
