Morena’s national leadership distanced itself from Sinaloa Governor Rubén Rocha Moya’s decision to return to office, stating that it had no prior knowledge of the local leader’s move.
In a brief statement, the party noted that “this leadership had no prior knowledge of the governor’s personal decision. Therefore, Morena distances itself from this decision.” To emphasize this point, the statement even highlighted that final phrase in bold type.
Morena recalled that “Dr. Rocha Moya’s stepping down from office followed accusations made by the U.S. Department of Justice; consequently, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and various Mexican authorities are continuing their investigations into the matter.” The party further stressed that it “will respect the rule of law, due process, and the outcome of the FGR’s investigations,” adding that it “will continue to act responsibly, prioritizing the public interest and upholding transparency, accountability, and unwavering respect for institutions as fundamental principles.”
Later, Morena’s national president, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, commented on the statement via social media, emphasizing in capital letters that Rocha’s decision to return to office is “personal.”
