Dominga Pérez Comisario, an 83-year-old woman, was killed with a stone on August 4 while returning to her home in the auxiliary community of Chachapa, in the municipality of Amozoc; she was celebrating her 83rd birthday on the day of the attack.
Surveillance cameras captured the moment the alleged perpetrator intercepted the woman on the streets of the 21 de Marzo neighborhood. According to preliminary investigations, the man attacked her with a stone and, once she was unconscious, snatched the 90 pesos she had earned during her workday selling *cemitas*.
The recording shows a man beginning to follow her as she continues on her way. Although the assault occurred outside the camera’s field of view, authorities have established a possible family connection between the alleged attacker and the victim as one of their main lines of investigation.
Personnel from the Specialized Unit for Intentional Homicides recovered the body and ordered its transfer to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo), where it was later identified by relatives.
The official autopsy determined that Dominga Pérez had suffered head trauma on the left side and that the cause of death was cardiorespiratory arrest resulting from the injuries sustained during the attack.
Family, friends, and neighbors bade the elderly woman a final farewell on Friday, August 7, at the San Miguel Mendizábal community center, where they also demanded justice and the solving of the crime.
The victim’s relatives noted that the day she was killed—August 4—was also her 83rd birthday; they insisted that authorities must solve the case and apprehend the person responsible for a crime that has sparked outrage among local residents. Dozens of people accompanied the family during the funeral mass and the subsequent procession to the Mendizábal cemetery, where she was laid to rest.
With flowers, applause, and gestures of solidarity, neighbors and acquaintances expressed the affection and respect the community held for the woman, who was widely known for having spent years selling *cemitas*.
