During an intelligence operation in the municipality of Zapopan—a place where the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) notably shelters associates seeking protection—Jalisco State Police officers arrested a U.S. citizen. He was the subject of an arrest warrant for extradition purposes, issued by U.S. authorities for crimes linked to the illicit trafficking of firearms and ammunition.
The arrest was achieved through international cooperation and the exchange of tactical information between local law enforcement agencies and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
The detainee was identified as Michael, 35 years old. Based on reports provided by the U.S. government, agents from the Jalisco Police Intelligence Division mapped out surveillance routes to establish the suspect’s movement patterns within the Guadalajara metropolitan area.
Field operations culminated in the El Campestre neighborhood of Zapopan, where state officers intercepted the individual at the intersection of Ontario Street and Avenida del Sendero.
After verifying his identity and confirming the validity of the international warrant regarding the possession and trafficking of weapons and ammunition, officers proceeded to arrest him.
