Initial autopsy results revealed that Mailén Antonich died of cardiac arrest caused by severe hemorrhaging from a stab wound to the neck, according to investigative sources speaking to Infobae.
The forensic examination also determined that the young woman had sustained multiple stab wounds, as well as injuries to her arms and legs consistent with a defensive struggle—details that investigators believe reinforce the theory that she attempted to resist the attack before being killed.
The preliminary autopsy findings align with the injuries observed on Agustín Nicolás Díaz Bartolomé (26) and José Luis Aquino (27), both of whom have been detained in connection with the femicide. They are scheduled to be questioned this Monday by Prosecutor Carlos Russo, head of Mar del Plata’s UFI No. 7 and the official in charge of the case.
Meanwhile, the driver who had taken Antonich to the beach resort—a man with whom she was reportedly beginning a romantic relationship—presented himself this Sunday at the Departmental Investigations Division (DDI) accompanied by a lawyer and made himself available to the authorities. Investigative sources told Infobae that he has not yet been questioned.
