The night Dafne Zapata Quintos died during a training camp at the Doenitz Naval Military Academy, Estrella “N” asked Danna Yanina “N,” then a student at the academy and now charged in the case, not to leave.
In a message sent to her mother, the young woman stated that the coordinator of the women’s area told her she was “a part of her,” that she shouldn’t abandon her, and that she should stay at the academy because she was “the only witness” to what happened.
The message, broadcast by Adela Micha’s program “La Saga” with the family’s permission, came to light while Estrella “N” and the school’s director, Jorge Luis “N,” remain in pretrial detention for their alleged involvement in the femicide of Dafne, the 13-year-old girl who died on July 17 at the academy’s facilities in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas.
“When Dafne died, Estrellita kept insisting I stay. She told me I was her daughter and that I shouldn’t abandon her, that I should leave until August, that I shouldn’t leave her alone,” Danna Yanina wrote. She described how, when she tried to talk to her father on the phone, Estrella “N” would interrupt the conversation or text for her. She said Estrella “N” slept with her. She told her that she was “part of her, a little piece of her.”
