The structure of Los Chapitos—one of the most powerful factions within the Sinaloa Cartel—has been reduced to its two principal leaders: Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar and Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, sons of Joaquín Guzmán Loera, alias “El Chapo.”
Pressure on the pair intensified earlier this month after the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security posted a message on social media reading “Two down, two to go,” referring to the four sons of El Chapo who inherited a portion of their father’s criminal organization.
The message highlights that Ovidio Guzmán López and Joaquín Guzmán López are already in U.S. custody, while Iván Archivaldo and Jesús Alfredo remain at large.
The two brothers are considered high-priority targets by authorities in both countries and face charges related to drug trafficking—including fentanyl—as well as other crimes linked to Los Chapitos’ operations.
