Following her tour of Quintana Roo, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo confirmed she will attend the 2026 World Cup closing match—Spain versus Argentina—at New York New Jersey Stadium, scheduled for next Sunday at 1:00 PM (Central Mexico Time).
In a brief encounter with the media, the Mexican leader revealed that she received a direct invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump and noted that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will also be in attendance.
“We’ve already secured the tickets,” the Mexican president said, adding that she would provide further details regarding her attendance tomorrow, July 18. She also mentioned that her return trip would likely be scheduled for Monday.
After more than a month of matches held in stadiums across Mexico, the United States, and Canada, the national teams of Spain and Argentina will face off in the 2026 World Cup final, having emerged victorious in seven matches each—three in the group stage and four in the knockout stage.
