A search is underway for 5-year-old Mohamed Osman Ould-Khettab Meza, who was allegedly abducted by his biological father in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora; he is believed to be hiding in Baja California, Nuevo León, or Mexico City.
Osman Mohamed’s mother, attorney Judith Alicia Meza Márquez, has asked for help finding her young son. She notes that, as a distinguishing characteristic, the Mexican boy speaks and communicates fluently in French, reflecting his father’s nationality.
“On May 1st, a minor—my son, Mohamed Osman Ould-Khettab Meza, age 5—was abducted in San Luis Río Colorado. His father illegally took him from the home. He lived there too—we were a couple—but there were already indications that he wanted to take the child away from the household,” Meza explained.
Legally, neither parent holds sole custody of the minor, but the act of taking the child away from his mother constitutes a crime that has been reported to Interpol.
“There is no legal custody arrangement granting either parent the right to remove the minor; however, in Sonora, taking a minor out of the state is a crime. It is a criminal offense. He has residences in Mexicali, but he processed all his documentation through Tijuana. He is a French national; he came to Tijuana for work—he worked for a mobile phone company developing applications—and he handled all his paperwork through that channel,” the mother explained.
Mohamed’s father may be in Tijuana, as it was one of the places where he found work as a programmer in Mexico; the mother is therefore asking the public to call 911 if they spot him on the street. “He went through Tijuana and later to Mexicali; he has a registered residence in Baja California, filed through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for immigration purposes. When he left home, he took his Mexican passport, but it was expired. That is one of the reasons I never renewed it—because there was always a sort of red flag, a lingering fear regarding what he might do. He took the U.S. visa and, well, the child’s personal documents—such as the birth certificate and vaccination record—documents that could potentially help in applying for or obtaining a passport later on. However, there are now state, national, and international alerts in place that would prevent him from making any moves of that kind,” said the mother, who is searching for her 5-year-old son—abducted on May 1, 2026.
