In a recent clash near Culiacán, Sinaloa, agents from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) were ambushed by a group of hitmen belonging to the faction led by Ismael Zambada Sicairos, alias “El Mayito Flaco.”

Upon coming under fire, the uniformed officers returned fire in accordance with established protocols regarding the use of force. As a result of the ensuing shootout, two hitmen were killed at the scene, and a third was detained by federal forces.

Secretary García Harfuch emphasized that, following the altercation, the operational deployment in the region remains active and has been reinforced with additional personnel. The objective of these actions is to ensure public peace, prevent further attacks, and locate the remaining individuals responsible for this assault.
The seized items and the detainee have been placed at the disposal of the appropriate investigative authorities to facilitate the compilation of the case file and the determination of legal liabilities.
