The U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee declared—via a post on its X account—that the era of impunity for narco-terrorists has come to an end, specifically citing Sinaloa Governor Rubén Rocha Moya.
“From Nicolás Maduro to Rubén Rocha Moya: if you are complicit in drug trafficking into the United States, we will hold you accountable. This is just the beginning,” stated the post, which also shared a news report indicating that the United States had charged Rubén Rocha Moya—along with other high-ranking officials from the same state—with various counts related to drug trafficking.
Last Wednesday, Rubén Rocha Moya was charged in a U.S. federal court with offenses related to drug trafficking. The U.S. Department of Justice announced the charges in an official statement.
The state governor was charged—alongside nine other high-ranking officials from Sinaloa—with crimes involving drug and arms trafficking. “They are accused of conspiring with the Sinaloa Cartel to distribute massive quantities of narcotics into the United States,” the statement noted.
Rocha Moya and the other defendants were linked to “Los Chapitos,” a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel led by the sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, operating in that state and others across Mexico.
