In the final stretch of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes’s life, “El Mencho,” the appearance of a young blonde woman has become the most intriguing element of the operation that culminated in the downfall of the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
Her presence at a private party at the cabins of the Tapalpa Country Club, organized by the drug lord hours before his death, marked the definitive turning point in the intelligence strategy that allowed authorities to confirm his location and act to try to arrest him.
Although it is known that Guadalupe Moreno Carrillo, his last partner, was at the location, journalist Antonio Nieto—who had access to “El Mencho’s” forensic report—recently revealed that there was a second woman whose involvement proved decisive in the outcome of the story.
According to information revealed by the author of the book “The Mexico City Cartel: Origin, Power, and Brutality of the Tepito Union,” the last week of Oseguera Cervantes’ life was marked by an eight-day celebration at an exclusive resort in Tapalpa, Jalisco.
The event was attended by the drug lord’s family members, high-ranking members of the organization, his partner Guadalupe Moreno Carrillo, and their daughters. The family gathering took place on February 14, Valentine’s Day, and after Moreno Carrillo and her daughters left, the atmosphere became festive with the staggered arrival of associates and close friends.
