More than a month after the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias El Mencho, the official confirmation of his identity and the circumstances of his final days continue to generate interest and debate.

Journalist Antonio Nieto, an expert on security issues and author of books such as *El cártel chilango: Origen, poder y saña de la Unión Tepito* (The Mexico City Cartel: Origin, Power, and Brutality of the Tepito Union), claimed this Tuesday to have had access to more than two dozen forensic photographs of the body of the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). According to his testimony, this clears up any doubt about the final fate of Mexico’s most wanted drug lord of the last decade.

He also revealed new details of the operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco; the private party the drug trafficker held before his death; and previously unpublished details of how authorities were able to verify his identity after he died from injuries sustained in a confrontation.

According to an article published by Nieto in La Silla Rota, the images he obtained show a man with very short black hair, a dyed goatee, a rejuvenated face after allegedly undergoing a facelift, his mouth and eyes wide open, with whitened and straight teeth.

The journalist specified that the physical features of the body perfectly matched the previously known images of Oseguera Cervantes, and that the analysis conducted by experts from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) included comparing nine anatomical features using specialized software, cross-referencing them with photographs accepted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Department of Justice.
