The security crisis plaguing the state of Guerrero saw a particularly violent day this Thursday, marked by the discovery of two murdered women in the Fraccionamiento Hornos neighborhood, in the heart of Acapulco.
The bodies were discovered in the early hours of the morning inside the trunk of a Nissan Chevy-model vehicle parked on Mar Mediterráneo Street—directly across from the state sub-delegation offices of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
According to preliminary forensic reports, both victims bore signs of torture and had tourniquets tied around their necks—a method frequently employed by criminal groups to execute their victims.
As of now, the State Attorney General’s Office has not issued an official statement regarding this discovery, which adds to the recent surge in homicides that has kept the port city under a climate of constant tension.
This double femicide brings the total number of women murdered in the state to three within a span of less than 12 hours. Just the previous night—Wednesday—a squad of hitmen stormed a commercial establishment located on the Acapulco-Ometepec federal highway to carry out the targeted execution of PRI leader Claudia Ivett Rodríguez Estrada.
The victim—who served as the PRI’s regional leader for the Costa Chica region and had previously served as the municipal commissioner for the community of Milpillas—was shot to death; no immediate arrests have been reported in connection with the attack. Crime Investigation
