Bomb explodes in parking lot of Mazatlán Citizen Security Center, Sinaloa; four vehicles damaged

A homemade bomb detonated this Thursday, November 27, in the parking lot of the Mazatlán Citizen Security Center in Sinaloa.

The explosion, which occurred in the Huertos Familiares neighborhood, caused material damage to four official vehicles. No injuries were reported. The Municipal Public Security Secretariat confirmed that the incident occurred while personnel were carrying out routine tasks, and the emergency protocol was immediately activated.

After the explosion, Municipal Police officers cordoned off the area to preserve evidence. Subsequently, various security and emergency agencies joined the operation in a coordinated effort, including personnel from the Mexican Navy (SEMAR), the Mexican Army (SEDENA), and the National Guard.

Experts from the Regional Deputy Prosecutor’s Office also began the corresponding investigations and the collection of evidence. Authorities confirmed that the damage was limited to the affected vehicles, with no casualties among personnel or civilians. They detailed that the explosive device was homemade and that forensic tests will be conducted to determine its composition and activation mechanism.

While the investigation continues, the Municipal and State Public Security Secretariats urged the public to avoid the area and follow the instructions of law enforcement.
