The murder of former Uruapan mayor Carlos Manzo was allegedly orchestrated by Ramón Álvarez Ayala, alias El R1, one of the closest associates of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias El Mencho, and possibly second-in-command of the entire Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
According to information presented on November 19 by the head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, Jorge Armando “N,” alias El Licenciado, was in charge of planning and ordering three other individuals to surveil and subsequently assassinate Carlos Manzo.
Harfuch also confirmed in a press conference that the investigations are still ongoing and that more arrests will be made following the attack on the former mayor of Uruapan; however, he did not provide further details about the possible suspects.
