Tamara Chiunti found herself at the center of a major controversy on social media after making comments considered offensive about Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, in a video. Although the video was deleted shortly after, many users had already saved and circulated it, sparking a wave of criticism against the Veracruz-born influencer.

Far from going unnoticed, the clip generated an immediate reaction, to the point that several users began calling her “Lady Fritanga” (Lady Fried Food). This occurred due to the tone she used to describe her experience in the city, which was perceived by many as mocking and classist.

One of the aspects that most upset internet users was her perception of the smells in the city.

“Literally, you arrive in Obregón and you already smell like fried food. Everywhere you go, wow, you reek of fried food. I arrived yesterday and my outfit still reeked of fried food.” For many, this was a lack of respect for the region’s culinary culture.

Another part of the video that caused outrage was when Tamara spoke about the typical food. She expressed disappointment at not finding restaurants with options like the ones she regularly eats.

“There aren’t any brunch restaurants. It’s like, ‘at so-and-so’s house’ and it’s called Sofía’s Brunch, and I’m like, ‘What the heck?’” she commented, ridiculing the names of some establishments.
