The case of alleged corruption and money laundering involving TV host Inés Gómez Mont and her husband, businessman Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga, has gained momentum again following his arrest in Miami, Florida.
According to reports by journalist Luis Chaparro, agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) located Gómez Mont at the same residence where her husband was detained, although she was not arrested due to family considerations.
The arrest of Álvarez Puga, founder of the law firm Álvarez Puga y Asociados, was due to immigration irregularities, not directly for the crimes he faces in Mexico, where he is wanted for organized crime, money laundering, and tax fraud.
He is currently in custody at the Krome North Service Processing Center, awaiting a hearing on November 12, where a judge will determine whether he will be deported to Mexico.
