The Argentine and Puerto Rican national soccer teams will move the venue for their friendly match next week from Chicago to Florida, coinciding with the deployment of the United States National Guard to the state of Illinois amid the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
Organizers notified accredited press, including EFE, that the match scheduled for October 13 at Chicago’s Soldier Field will now be held on the 14th in Fort Lauderdale, at Chase Stadium, home of Inter Miami, the team where Lionel Messi plays.
Although there are no official details regarding the event’s relocation, the relocation is emerging as Chicago remains awaiting the deployment of the 200 National Guard soldiers ordered by Trump to protect Border Patrol agents this Wednesday.
