On August 2, United States authorities announced the arrest of Mexican boxer Julio César Chávez Jr., son of former champion Julio César Chávez. Days later, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Mexico detailed that the athlete had an arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in arms trafficking and organized crime.
After his arrest in the United States, Julio César Chávez Jr. was extradited to Mexico, where he was charged. The Mexican boxer is currently free and recently gave an interview to the sports network TUDN.
Amid the ongoing investigations against him, Julio César Chávez Jr. gave an interview with Carlos Aguilar of the sports network TUDN. In the interview, the son of “The César of Boxing” spoke about his arrest and the accusations that have arisen against him.
In this regard, JC Chávez Jr. explained that he was charged in Mexico and the investigation is ongoing. The athlete explained that he must report to court every month and that he also has permission to leave the country and box.
Regarding his arrest, the boxer said it was a “shock” because he never expected it. Julio César Chávez Jr. asserted that he is innocent of the investigations being conducted against him and also denied any links to the Sinaloa Cartel.
