Ernesto Barajas, vocalist of Enigma Norteño, left the state of Sinaloa due to the violence caused by the war between Los Chapitos and Los Mayos of the Sinaloa Cartel to settle in Jalisco, authorities in that state revealed after the murder of the group’s founder.
At a press conference, the Special Executive Deputy Prosecutor for Criminal Investigation of the State Attorney General’s Office, Alfonso Gutiérrez Santillán, provided new details about the attack on Tuesday, August 19, when Barajas and one of his companions died at a car park in the municipality of Zapopan.
According to the information, the singer was at the park to pick up four vehicles from Sinaloa in the company of a man, identified as a member of the group’s staff and also his friend, as well as his wife.
While paying for his pension, two armed men approached the singer and shot him several times. However, his friend was also shot, killing him.
Gutiérrez explained that the attack was allegedly planned solely against Ernesto Barajas due to the “number of bullet wounds” he received, as the second victim only had one.
