The capital’s authorities reported the arrest of 13 people allegedly linked to the murder of Ximena Guzmán Cuevas, private secretary to Mayor Clara Brugada, and José Muñoz Vega, her advisor, following an armed attack on the morning of Tuesday, May 20, in the Benito Juárez mayor’s office.
At a press conference, the capital’s leader reported that of the thirteen people arrested, three were allegedly directly involved in the attack that killed their collaborators.
“I inform the public that during the early hours of this morning, in coordination with the Mexican government, a major operation was carried out related to the murders of our colleagues Ximena Guzmán and José Muñoz. In this operation, 13 people were arrested, including three people who directly participated in the murder and others involved in the logistical preparation of the event. I want to highlight the inter-institutional coordination between the City government and the Mexican government that made these results possible,” Brugada reported.
The double homicide took place on Calzada de Tlalpan, near Napoleón Street, in the La Moderna neighborhood.
Brugada thanked President Claudia Sheinbaum for her support, highlighting that collaboration between levels of government has been key to advancing the fight against impunity.
