The judicial cases of Ovidio and Joaquín Guzmán López, sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, are moving toward a conclusion in the United States federal courts, where they face multiple charges for drug trafficking-related offenses.
Both brothers have held talks with the US Attorney’s Office with the goal of reaching plea agreements and cooperation, which could mark the conclusion of their criminal proceedings.
Ovidio Guzmán—alias “El Ratón”—has a hearing scheduled for July 9 in the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, where he is expected to formalize his guilty plea. His brother, Joaquín Guzmán López, known as “El Güero,” will appear before the same judge, Sharon Johnson Coleman, six days later, on July 15.
