The budget “reconciliation” legislative proposal that Trump and a significant portion of his faction could pass as early as today (after a marathon session last night and early this morning, it seems they’ve already managed to align their group) includes:
*A 5% tax on remittances sent by individuals who are not U.S. citizens
*US$175 billion in new funding for immigration deportation operations
*US$46 billion to resume construction of the border wall with Mexico
Elimination of the $2,500 child tax credit for U.S. citizen children whose parents are in the country without legal immigration status. This change is significant, given that 5.6 million American children—most of them of Mexican origin—live with an undocumented household member.
Exclusion of 8.6 million citizens, many of them Mexican Americans, from access to health coverage through Medicaid.
