Three digital content creators have been placed under formal criminal proceedings in Hermosillo for allegedly promoting the use of marijuana and cannabis-derived products on social media. A judge has imposed precautionary measures on them, including a requirement to report to judicial authorities on a weekly basis and a temporary suspension of their promotion of a specific commercial brand.

The individuals—20-year-old Azlán (known as “El Azlán”), 29-year-old Julián (alias “El Pelón Bajavión”), and 22-year-old Eduardo Antonio (identified as “El Doble Carne”)—are being investigated for their alleged role in the crime of “glorification of a criminal act or vice.”

The case stems from a video shared publicly on Facebook on August 29, in which the three young men allegedly expressed approval for the consumption of cannabis-derived substances while showcasing and distributing products linked to a commercial brand.

According to an investigation by the Sonora Prosecutor’s Office, the recording features electronic cigarettes, concentrates, extracts, and pre-rolled marijuana joints, which were displayed and handed out on camera.

The Prosecutor’s Office further noted that a key factor in the investigation was the dissemination of this content via a digital platform, which had the potential to reach an indeterminate number of users—including children and adolescents.

Judge imposes precautionary measures
During the initial hearing, the prosecution presented over 15 pieces of evidence to support the charges and requested that the three content creators be formally placed under criminal proceedings.

The presiding judge ordered that the individuals must report to the court weekly, provide an individual financial bond, and refrain from leaving the state of Sonora without judicial authorization. Furthermore, it ordered the temporary suspension of activities aimed at promoting the brand associated with the content under investigation, while the proceedings continue.
