Reports describe gunfire at a Culiacán house linked to Rubén Rocha Moya’s campaign and a man wounded outside; any connection remains unconfirmed.
Gunfire damaged a house in Culiacán’s Chapultepec neighborhood that local reporting links to Sinaloa Gov. Rubén Rocha Moya, who is on leave. A man was reportedly wounded outside the same property the following morning, but authorities had not publicly established whether the shootings were connected.
The house was reportedly attacked around 9:30 p.m. Monday, October 26, near Francisco Márquez and Eustaquio Buelna streets. Luz Noticias described bullet damage to walls, gates and vehicles and said Army personnel responded. Its account reported no injuries during the nighttime attack.
On Tuesday morning, regional outlets reported that a man had been shot while sitting in a vehicle outside the residence. Reports described a bullet impact on the driver’s side and said the wounded man reached a hospital on his own. His identity and condition were not disclosed.
A red sports car in the garage also sustained multiple bullet impacts. No spent cartridge cases were found, suggesting they might have been removed. That explanation remains unverified.
The house’s association with Rocha Moya rests on its reported political use. The house served as his campaign headquarters, and Sen. Enrique Inzunza Cázares worked there during the election period. Those accounts do not establish ownership or place either politician at the property during the gunfire.
Questions also remain about the sequence of events. The Tuesday-morning shooting was confirmed, but authorities have not confirmed accounts of a separate attack Monday night. No official account obtained in this report resolves the chronology, identifies the attackers or establishes a motive or cartel affiliation.
