Authorities arrested El Isra, an alleged Los Rusos operator, at a Mexicali restaurant and transferred him to Sonora over outstanding criminal allegations.
Federal and state security forces arrested a man known as “El Isra,” an alleged regional operator of Los Rusos, while he was dining at a Mexicali restaurant on Sunday night. Authorities link the group to the Sinaloa cartel’s La Mayiza faction and say his suspected territory extended across the Mexicali Valley into San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora.
The detainee is identified as Israel Leonel Trigueros Muñoz. Investigators tracked his location and movements through intelligence gathering and information sharing before officers approached the restaurant on Boulevard Adolfo López Mateos, near the state security headquarters in the Centro Cívico. A gray Grand Wagoneer with California plates, reportedly used by the suspect, remained in the parking lot; the report does not establish that it was seized.
The arrest happened at approximately 10 p.m. on October 25 and, citing unofficial sources, identifies the restaurant as Pampas. Its initial account describes participation by state security officers and the federal Security and Citizen Protection Secretariat. The subsequent federal account also names the Navy, National Guard and National Intelligence Center among the participating agencies.
Authorities describe the 42-year-old suspect as a priority target allegedly involved in drug trafficking and attacks against security personnel. The federal account identifies an outstanding warrant for unlawful deprivation of liberty and links him to a 2024 armed attack against a state intelligence commander. It also alleges involvement in the August 2026 abduction of a musical performer in Sonora. Federal government sources, identifies the performer as corridos singer Enghles Aralp Gastélum Cartagena, known as “El Gordo Gadaffi.” These allegations have not been established at trial.
After the arrest, the suspect was transferred to Sonora, according to Baja California’s security agency. The legal basis requires clarification: the state account describes an active homicide warrant, while the federal disclosure refers to unlawful deprivation of liberty and a kidnapping case. The available information does not establish whether these are separate warrants or differing descriptions of the same case.
The capture followed earlier efforts to locate him. Reports allege that authorities searched a property in Mexicali’s Quinta Córdoba neighborhood on October 14 but did not find him.
The reviewed accounts disclose no weapons, drugs or cash seized during the restaurant operation. With the suspect transferred to Sonora, the next steps are clarification of the warrants and judicial proceedings to determine his legal status and assess the allegations against him.
