The young man had been reported missing on September 28 in the state capital’s city center, and his body was found ten days later—on the night of Sunday, October 4—in the bed of the Pastita River at a spot known as “El Ojo de Satán” (Satan’s Eye), near the Federal Electricity Commission facilities.
The Attorney General’s Office confirmed his identity through DNA testing using samples from his family members and is keeping the investigation open to clarify the cause of death.

The discovery was made shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4. Personnel from the Preventive Police, Municipal Civil Protection, and the Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene and confirmed that the individual showed no vital signs.
David Gamba Castillo, the Secretary of Citizen Security for the city of Guanajuato, reported at the time that the call received indicated a person had allegedly drowned in the Pastita River. The official initially stated that the man appeared to be around 40 years old, prior to forensic analysis confirming the body’s true identity.
The area was immediately cordoned off, and the FGEG was notified to initiate the appropriate protocols. The body was transported by the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) to its facilities, where the necessary examinations were conducted to determine the cause of death.
