Jesús Alvarado (“El Chuy”), 36, and his wife Rosalba, 30, were executed by masked gunmen on the night of Saturday, October 3, 2026, in the San Martín Mexicapam municipal district of Oaxaca de Juárez.

The attack took place around 10:00 PM as the couple was traveling on a motorcycle along Fresnos Street, near the intersections with Paraíso and Pinos streets.

At that location, they were intercepted by two armed men riding a Honda FT motorcycle who opened fire multiple times. Both victims died at the scene due to gunshot wounds—Jesús Alvarado was struck in the back, and his wife was shot in the head.

The victims were well-known vendors in the Oaxacan capital, having spent over a decade preparing and selling *elotes* (corn on the cob) and *esquites* (corn in a cup) under the brand name “Elotes El Chuy.”

They operated a permanent stall at the corner of Manuel García Vigil and Miguel Hidalgo streets in the Historic Center, as well as a mobile tricycle-based sales point; their products were known for featuring traditional toppings such as *chapulines* (grasshoppers).

The business’s official social media page has over 150,000 followers; just hours before the attack, they had posted promotional content regarding a menu item.

Following confirmation of the incident, social media users, customers, and local residents expressed their condolences and messages of support to the couple’s family. Agents from the State Investigation Agency (AEI) and personnel from the Institute of Forensic Services, attached to the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO), arrived at the location to process the crime scene, recover the bodies, and collect ballistic evidence.

The prosecution announced the initiation of the corresponding investigations—comprising field intelligence work, witness interviews, and the analysis of public and private video surveillance cameras in the area—aimed at establishing the motive for the double homicide and identifying the perpetrators.
