An operation carried out by the Michoacán Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) in the city of Morelia resulted in the arrest of five individuals linked to extortion, homicide, femicide, and small-scale drug trafficking. These arrests were part of the investigation following the incident on Periodismo Avenue where Rafael Cano—known as “El Mansito” or “El Jocker”—was shot and killed by agents from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).
The first intervention took place in the Agustín Arriaga Rivera neighborhood, along Periodismo Avenue, where Civil Guard officers intercepted Mayra González and Ismael Martínez.
Authorities seized a 9mm handgun, 10 live rounds of ammunition, 21 packets containing approximately 12 grams of methamphetamine, a vehicle, and a mobile device from the arrested individuals. Official reports indicate that Mayra González is the subject of active investigations for the crimes of femicide, homicide, and extortion.
In a second operation carried out on Manuel Sabino Crespo Street, SSP officers arrested América López *in flagrante delicto*; she was found in possession of seven packets of methamphetamine intended for retail distribution in the Michoacán capital.
Finally, on Pedro de Aranda Street, Civil Guard agents arrested Óscar Pérez and Luis Ramírez while they were traveling on an Italika motorcycle that had been reported stolen.
