The story of ‘Tambor’—a bunny barely five or six months old—has begun to touch the hearts of many people seeking to give him a second chance. The little animal was rescued by Miguel Ángel, founder of the *Refugio Gatitos Huérfanos* (Orphaned Kittens Shelter) in Barranquilla, after spending more than two weeks in critical condition. He suffered a suspected spinal injury that prevents him from moving his hind legs and has severely deteriorated his health.
According to the rescuer, it all began with an accident at home. Apparently, a young girl accidentally dropped the rabbit, and his situation changed completely from that moment on. ‘Tambor’ stopped walking, running, and performing the characteristic hops of a rabbit.
His hind legs stopped responding, forcing him to move around using only the strength of his front limbs. The injury—which has not yet been diagnosed by a specialist—could be linked to severe spinal damage. However, determining the severity of his condition requires veterinary tests and a specialized medical assessment to establish whether any treatment or procedure exists to improve his quality of life.
Following the accident, the animal’s condition worsened due to a lack of proper care. Miguel Ángel states that the bunny spent over 15 days dragging himself along the ground to eat and move, resulting in multiple wounds across his body. Images shared by the rescuer show visible skin lesions, hair loss, and areas damaged by constant friction against the ground. Every movement required an enormous effort from ‘Tambor,’ who had to propel himself solely with his front legs while the rear of his body remained motionless.
