Throughout her life, the former president’s mother maintained strong ties to her home country. As Trump has said on several occasions, his mother had great respect for Queen Elizabeth II and was deeply proud of her Scottish roots. This connection to her homeland was reflected in the visits she made with her children to the Isle of Lewis.
