The LRS
The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) of the Los Angeles County Bar Association is a nonprofit public service that allows members of the public to find a qualified attorney and get general information about common legal issues. There is no cost to access information through the LRS and there is no fee to get a referral to an attorney.

History of the LRS
The LACBA Lawyer Referral Service was founded in 1937 and is the oldest and largest organization of its kind. For more than 75 years, members of the public have looked to the LRS as a trusted resource to find attorneys and for general information about legal issues.

How the LRS Works
The public can find a qualified attorney through the LRS. This can be done online or by phone. Phone referrals are available in English and Spanish. After getting some basic information about a case, clients are referred to an attorney that is qualified to handle the case. Each referred client will receive a free consultation of up to 20 minutes with the attorney.

Through the LRS, the public can also access hundreds of information pieces on common legal issues, in English and Spanish. These information pieces cover a vast array of legal issues and are available by phone, as online text or as streaming audio.

After receiving a referral, a representative of the LRS will contact the client from time to time either by phone or mail for quality control purposes or to get basic information about the case.

About LRS Attorneys
All LRS attorneys charge fees. LRS attorneys do not provide free, pro bono legal services. Every LRS attorney has proven that he or she is qualified in a particular area of law practice and has met many qualifications standards. The LRS can refer clients to an attorney in just about every area of law practice and in many different language and location requirements (limited to Los Angeles County).
