A 2017 video has surfaced on social media showing Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, leader of the Sinaloa cartel, during his stay in the Ciudad Juárez prison, after escaping from the Puente del Altiplano prison and prior to being extradited to the United States, where he is currently serving a sentence.
The images show the drug lord and father of Ovidio and Iván Archivaldo Guzmán, “Los Chapitos,” talking with his cell guard about the prison’s security measures. Guzmán Loera asked to be allowed more time outdoors in the prison yard.
“You know about my behavior, so you can explain to the head of the prison if I don’t comply with the rules,” says Guzmán Loera.
“You’ve left twice,” the guard replies.
“Well, that’s fine, but that’s a different story,” replied “El Chapo.”
