Security officers seized more than 200 kilograms of drugs near an airport in Baja California. Authorities estimate the damage to criminal organizations is worth 51 million pesos.
The National Guard announced the seizure on June 28. The institution detailed that a total of 12 suitcases were searched, in which officers found 250 kilograms of cocaine and crystal meth.
No one came to claim the suitcases at the airport, so the travel gear continued to circulate around the airport carousel.
National Guard members, with the assistance of a canine team, went to the baggage claim area at Tijuana International Airport and found more than 100 packages of drugs.
“When inspecting the suitcases, which arrived on a flight from Guadalajara, Jalisco, they found 86 packages of cocaine, weighing approximately 200 kilos, and 27 bags with more than 56 kilos of crystal meth,” the security agency reported.
