The Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) forcefully denounced the genocide currently suffered by the Palestinian people, pointing to the capitalist system as a destroyer present in every corner of the world.
During the Meeting of Resistances and Rebellions “Some Parts of the Whole,” in which resistance groups, collectives, movements, and organizations participated, Subcomandante Moisés pointed to capitalism as an exterminator of human life, and Palestine is today one of the examples of this violence.
“Capitalism is present in every corner of the world, destroying all living beings. Today, in one of the small parts of this earth, the capitalist system is committing genocide against the people of Palestine,” he said.
The death toll in the Gaza Strip due to the military offensive launched by Israel in October 2023 stood at 60,034 as of July 29, according to the daily report published by the Ministry of Health.
Subcomandante Moisés raised his voice in solidarity and, as an act of protest, called for people not to remain indifferent.
“We cannot forget, we cannot leave aside. That is why we offer our humble words to them. We are all Palestinian girls, we are all Palestinian boys,” he said.
As they spoke, the militia members participating in the parade raised Palestinian flags as a sign of solidarity with the situation they face.
This meeting of “practical experiences of resistance” was convened in June with the aim of sharing stories with the Zapatista communities.
The call referred to the following:
“Those of us who will be there already know what the damned system is and what it does against everyone, as well as against nature, knowledge, the arts, information, human dignity, and the entire planet.
“This is not about theoretically exposing the evils of the capitalist system, but rather about what is being done to resist and rebel, that is, to fight against it.”
