Personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), in coordination with staff from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), located and destroyed a clandestine laboratory dedicated to the production of methamphetamine in the municipality of Mocorito, Sinaloa.

The site was discovered during aerial and ground surveillance patrols in the village of Las Juntas, where naval personnel located the illicit laboratory; approximately 600 kilograms of methamphetamine and chemical precursors were found inside.

The list of precursors included 200 liters of benzyl alcohol, 500 kilograms of toluene, and 75 kilograms of caustic soda, among other substances.

According to reports, the laboratory featured extensive operational areas, as well as materials and equipment for the production of synthetic drugs, several items of which were seized.

Information obtained by *Infobae México* indicates that the site where the methamphetamine laboratory was located belonged to the “Los Chapitos” faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.

This cell has been engaged in a dispute with the “Los Mayos” faction since September 2024, following the abduction—and subsequent handover to the United States—of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, a former leader of the cartel, by Joaquín Guzmán López, the son of “El Chapo” Guzmán.

Regarding the drug lab, authorities reported that the seizure of the synthetic drugs and chemical precursors represents an estimated economic blow of 157 million pesos, in addition to preventing the potential distribution of over 15,000 doses of drugs that will now never reach the streets.

“This seizure represents a significant blow to the logistical structures of organized crime, preventing these illicit substances from reaching the streets and thereby contributing to the safety of Mexican families,” the Secretariat of the Navy detailed in a press release.
