Those responsible for the study surveyed residents across the country to learn about their affectionate habits and their use of physical contact such as hugs, kisses, and affection.
Verbal expressions such as the use of positive words and affectionate nicknames were also evaluated. We also asked them how much they like or appreciate receiving displays of affection, rating them from 1 to 10.
The results showed that Toluca is the most affectionate city in Mexico with a score of 6.89, due to the fact that its residents express their affection with physical gestures such as hugs and kisses, in addition to using positive and loving language.
Other cities that have also been shown to be more affectionate are San Luis Potosí, with an average score of 6.76, as its residents like to cuddle, send heart or love emojis, and use affectionate nicknames.
In third place is Mérida, Yucatán, with a score of 6.62, standing out for its use of affectionate nicknames and the custom of hugging.

People in this state showed notably low scores for seeking physical contact while speaking and using affectionate words in their interactions, as well as a low score for giving hugs.
