The discovery of Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, better known on social media as Esmeralda FG, along with her husband and two minor children inside an abandoned van shocked the Guadalajara community and the internet, where the news spread rapidly.
According to the report, the bodies of the family—originally from Michoacán and recently arrived in Jalisco—were found last Friday, August 22, in the San Andrés neighborhood.
However, it wasn’t until Thursday, August 29, that the Jalisco State Attorney General’s Office identified the victims as Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, 32; her husband, Roberto Carlos Gil Licea, 36; their son, Gael Santiago, 13; and their daughter, Regina, 7. The remains were returned to relatives on Monday, August 25, authorities confirmed.
The family had recently moved to the Guadalajara metropolitan area. According to authorities, her husband had business activities in the vehicle sales and tomato farming industry in Michoacán.
The family’s disappearance was reported days before they were discovered. Their remains were found in a gray Ford Ranger pickup truck on Jorge Delorme Street, at the intersection with Pensador Mexicano.
