Authorities in Jalisco claim to have key videos in the investigation into the murder of Valeria Márquez, a 23-year-old influencer who was executed on May 13 while broadcasting live from her beauty salon in the municipality of Zapopan. The crime caused shock not only nationally but also internationally.

In an interview with the media, Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro confirmed this Monday that the cameras of the Escudo Urbano C5 (Urban Shield) video surveillance system were operating in the area at the time of the attack and captured the alleged perpetrators fleeing in two different vehicles.

“Of course they are working. That’s where we obtained the videos of where they fled. Because when they attacked this influencer, Valeria, they took two different routes in two different vehicles: a motorcycle and a white car,” the governor stated.

The governor indicated that the Jalisco State Attorney General’s Office has already interviewed more than 20 people close to the victim, including family members, friends, and witnesses. Among those summoned to testify is Vivian de la Torre, Valeria’s friend who allegedly repeatedly asked her to remain at the establishment on the day of the attack and has been the subject of scrutiny on social media.

For its part, the state Attorney General’s Office reported that the attacker entered the establishment asking for her and, after identifying her, opened fire. The agency’s spokesperson, Denis Rodríguez, stated that so far no charges have been filed against an identified perpetrator, but it is presumed that the attacker did not personally know Valeria Márquez, suggesting a possible case of contract killing.
