In the United States, a woman identified as a member of a criminal organization linked to the Sinaloa Cartel was sentenced to 14 years in prison. She is Claudia Patricia Álvarez Hernández, from whom vehicles, jewelry, and luxury watches were seized.

Álvarez Hernández is the wife of Jorge Alberto Valenzuela Valenzuela, who was once identified as the leader of the criminal organization known as Los Valenzuela, part of the Sinaloa Cartel.

How did she become a prominent member?

The U.S. authorities’ report details that the woman became more closely involved with the criminal group’s activities after her husband’s arrest.
It was in October 2020 that Jorge Alberto Valenzuela was captured, which led to Claudia Álvarez and other family members becoming more involved in Los Valenzuela’s operations.

Jorge Valenzuela rose through the ranks of the criminal underworld for approximately 20 years, eventually becoming a prominent figure within the Sinaloa Cartel. He is currently awaiting sentencing in California.

After her husband’s arrest, Álvarez Hernández’s role focused on overseeing members of the criminal organization, as well as locating and recovering illicit assets in Mexico and the United States.
