President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo responded this Saturday to the article published yesterday in The Wall Street Journal and confirmed that Donald Trump did offer to deploy the US military to Mexican territory to combat drug trafficking during their telephone conversations, which she refused in defense of sovereignty.
The Chief Executive expressed openness to collaboration and teamwork with the United States, but reiterated that she will never allow the presence of the US military in the country.
“It’s not necessary; we can collaborate, we can work together, but you on your territory and we on ours. We can share information, but we will never accept the presence of the US military on our territory,” she asserted.
Sheinbaum explained that instead of military support, she asked Donald Trump to stop arms trafficking from the United States to Mexico, a request that the president responded to yesterday.
