“We are death,” a group of soldiers says before slamming a young man against a slot machine. A 14-minute recording, now circulating on social media, has exposed the threats, interrogations, and physical assaults with which members of the Armed Forces attempted to force a man to confess to being a member of a criminal group.
According to the video, the events took place on February 16, 2026, at a slot machine parlor in Peribán, Michoacán.
At the beginning of the operation, the soldiers closed the door of the parlor before beginning the assault. Inside were two young men: while one was simply shown a cell phone and questioned about its ownership, the other was subjected to beatings and threats.
The recording shows at least five men dressed in tactical gear surrounding, subduing, and interrogating the man who was working at the mini-casino.
One of the assailants, his face covered by a bandana, makes direct threats: “We are death, man, we are.” During the interrogation, he asks: “Are you acting as a lookout?” and before any answer, he grabs the young man by the head and slams him against one of the machines.
