The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, reported that members of Los Chapitos and Los Mayos, responsible for violence in those regions, were arrested in separate operations carried out in Mazatlán and Culiacán, Sinaloa, and firearms were seized from them.
“In two operations in Sinaloa, members of the @SSPCMexico, @SEMAR_mx, @Defensamx1, @FGRMexico, @GN_MEXICO_, and the National Intelligence Center arrested five people linked to criminal groups responsible for violence in the region. In Mazatlán, Juan Carlos “N”, alias “Calamaco”, and Jesús “N” were captured, both connected to homicide and drug trafficking. In Culiacán, three armed men were arrested, also linked to violent acts in the state. In both operations, firearms and stolen vehicles were seized,” the official explained in a message on his account.
The Security Cabinet detailed that, as part of the efforts to reinforce security in the state, members of this agency carried out the two operations that led to the capture of the five suspects, who were in possession of firearms while driving stolen vehicles.
Regarding the first case, in the port and tourist center of Mazatlán, it was explained that, while developing lines of investigation into the operation of a criminal cell of the Pacific Cartel, the location of its members was obtained in the El Habal district.
In that community, Juan Carlos Calamaco Rodríguez, alias “Calamaco,” and Jesús Orlando Flores Martínez were arrested. A long gun, three magazines, three radio communication devices, and a stolen vehicle were seized from them.
The investigations establish that Calamaco is one of the main operators of the “Los Jordán” criminal group, affiliated with the “Los Chapitos” faction, and is linked to drug trafficking and homicides in Coahuila and Durango.
In the other operation, carried out in the city of Culiacán, security personnel conducting patrols on a road in the Alcoyonqui district detected three armed men traveling in a pickup truck without license plates.
The suspects were identified as Heras Félix Rodrigo, 20, Bryan Alberto López García, 23, and Fortunato Alvarado Moreno, 21, as alleged members of a criminal cell of the “Los Mayos” faction.
