Secretary of Security Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez mentioned that, given that these individuals use the same vehicles, weapons, and calibers, it is hypothesized that they are the main drivers of violence in the region. He also indicated that they are not located within the town, but rather operate on the outskirts of La Rumorosa and Laguna Hanson.
“We believe it is effective because that’s what we’ve seen; we’ve had sightings of them. What we know is that they are not within La Rumorosa, they are outside the town, hiding in some places between La Rumorosa and Laguna Hanson. We already have that; the exact location is what we’re looking for. That’s why I’m confident that we’ll soon arrest them,” he stated.
Due to the violent incidents that have occurred in the town in recent months, the Secretary himself mentioned that they will seek to build and implement a State Citizen Security Force base in the area, in order to maintain a permanent presence and guarantee security. He added that it is a priority for the state, with the goal of bringing tourism back to La Rumorosa.
He also reported that a comprehensive strategy for the town will be proposed, which will be presented to Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda at the security meeting on June 19. If approved, an operation will be launched to address insecurity.
