Mexican security forces arrested Gustavo Botello Rodríguez, alias Viejón, the alleged leader of the La Barredora operational group, a criminal organization affiliated with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), reported Omar García Harfuch, head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
The arrest took place in Jalisco following investigative and intelligence work by the National Defense, Semar (Semar), FGR (Argentine National Guard), SSPC (Spanish National Police), CNI (National Criminal Investigation Unit), and Guanajuato authorities.
According to federal officials, the detainee is likely linked to crimes of extortion, homicide, drug distribution and sale, illegal deprivation of liberty, vehicle theft, fuel theft, and cargo theft, in addition to attacks against rival groups and security forces.
The operation took place in the municipality of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, where he was arrested along with Edith Cárdenas Reyes, Edy.
