Vanessa Gurrola, a model from Sinaloa, was arrested in California, United States, for her alleged involvement in the murder of a man nicknamed “El Chato,” a suspected operative of the Arellano Félix Cartel.

Gurrola was also nicknamed “the Emma Coronel look-alike” for her resemblance to the wife of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. However, her alleged ties to organized crime began last year, when she appeared on flyers for alleged ties to “Los Chapitos.”

On September 27, 2024, dozens of flyers against the “Los Chapitos” faction of the Sinaloa Cartel were distributed in the municipalities of Culiacán, Los Mochis, and Mazatlán in the state of Sinaloa.

The flyers featured 19 people, including Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, who were accused of having alleged ties to the faction led by the sons of “El Chapo” Guzmán, who is being held at the ADX Florence federal prison in Colorado, United States.
