Since Clara Brugada took office as Mexico City Mayor on October 5, 2024, until April 30, her administration has arrested 355 people, including leaders of criminal groups, leaders of criminal cells, drug dealers, extortionists, and collaborators dedicated to vehicle and home theft.
These arrests have led to the dismantling of 19 criminal cells, according to the most recent security report presented by the city government.
It is noteworthy that 46.8 percent belonged to La Unión Tepito (124 people) and its bitter rival, Fuerza Anti-Unión (42). These are followed by other organizations such as the Tláhuac Cartel (14), the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (six), and Los Rodolfos (five), a group dedicated to extortion, drug dealing, and illegal logging in the south of the city, especially in Xochimilco and Tlalpan.
Security forces also apprehended 164 alleged criminals from other groups not specified in the report.
On May 14, the capital’s police arrested Israel ‘N’, the CJNG’s plaza boss in Coyoacán, Iztapalapa, and Xochimilco, a blow that shook Nemesio El Mencho Oseguera’s powerful organization.
