The disappearance of Wendy Arantxa Portilla Ramos and Karime Monserrat Murrieta Reséndiz in Poza Rica, Veracruz, has left family, friends, and authorities on edge. The two 23-year-old women were last seen on January 10, 2026, at the Jardines de los Ángeles cemetery, after attending the funeral services for Carlos Leonardo Ramírez Castro, a journalist murdered days earlier in the same city.
The Veracruz State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has implemented the Alba Protocol and is pursuing several lines of investigation.
According to local media reports, Portilla Ramos and Murrieta Reséndiz accompanied family and friends to the funeral held at the cemetery located on the Poza Rica-Coatzintla highway. Their whereabouts have been unknown since then.
