After days of mobilizations and highway blockades across the country, truckers’ and farmers’ organizations announced on Thursday the end of their protests after reaching agreements with the Interior Ministry (Segob).

During a meeting held on Thursday, November 27, in Mexico City, movement leaders agreed to restore free transit on highways and strategic access points, while federal authorities committed to establishing working groups to address the sector’s most urgent demands.

According to a statement released by the Interior Ministry, the meeting concluded with the establishment of three working groups dedicated to critical issues: highway safety, legal regulations regarding water, and addressing the demands of the national agricultural sector.

Federal authorities informed sector leaders about the implementation of programs and institutional actions designed to address their concerns in the various states.

Both parties agreed to review and discuss approaches and observations on the National Waters Law, incorporating clarifications and specific proposals through an attached document.
